Fuel & Boost to HP Calculator
Welcome to the BenzForce Fuel & Boost Power Calculator. This will help estimate crank horsepower based on boost pressure and fuel level (CC). Please keep in mind that real world results will vary. After this calculator was made, adjustments were made to closely match Dieselmeken's om606 testing with a 140cc pump and BorgWarner s257 that made 427 horsepower.

Calculator Assumptions
- Targeted for the om606.962 - 6 cylinder
- Volumetric efficiency fixed at 0.85 / 85%
- Atmospheric pressure fixed at 14.7 PSI / sea-level standard
- Fuel type assumed to be diesel
- Diesel density assumed to be 0.85 g/cc
- Diesel BSFC assumed to be 0.497 lb fuel per HP per hour (used for corrections)
- Engine assumed to be a 4-stroke engine
- Airflow-to-power conversion uses 1 lb/min of air ≈ 9 crank HP
- Boost input is gauge pressure / PSIG, not absolute pressure
- Fuel delivery input is entered in cc/min
- Temperature inputs are entered in °F
- Engine displacement is entered in liters
- Horsepower output is crankshaft horsepower, not wheel horsepower
- Results are estimates and should not be considered equivalent to a chassis dyno or engine dyno measurement
Items not taken into consideration:
- Turbocharger efficiency
- Exhaust backpressure
- Injection timing
- Fuel quality effects
- Cylinder head flow limitations
